Castleross is directed by a team of dedicated and committed members of staff who continually strive to raise standards of care and continuously improve where and how we do things.
At Castleross our vision is simple; to preserve the dignity, individuality and privacy of the people who live here, in a manner that is sensitive to their ever-changing needs. We are committed to providing high quality safe services while also endeavouring to improve each person's quality of life.
Castleross began in 2002 as a 46-bed traditional nursing home. Traditional nursing homes were often descripted as “hospital like” and while they were able to meet the medical or clinical needs of the people who lived in them, they rarely felt like home or had a significant focus on the quality of life of those living in them. In 2009 after much research across the world Castleross found what they had been looking for “The Household Model”.
This model focused on all of our residents needs not just on good clinical practice but also on creating a homely environment with a culture of choice, respect, independence and most importantly individuality, It was about creating a community where our residents can live life to its fullest with the support our staff, their families and the larger community.
Today, Castleross is a purpose-built nursing and care centre located on the outskirts of the thriving market town of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan which is licensed to care for the 125 people that live here. The centre is divided into 4 Household:
The physical environment of each household and communal area is designed for the convenience and comfort of the people who live here and built on the principles of home.
Castleross has two civic centres for communal activities, as well as a 1km on-site internal walkway- St Francis Way, which is fully wheelchair accessible.
The Kavanagh Community Centre is a large facility with full audio visual, catering facilities and toilet facilities. Large or small groups can be catered for in the centre. with regular activities scheduled such as
